WebMar 8, 2024 · Low Git performance in scalable projects. A monorepo is more complicated for Git repository integration than a multi-repo. Issues with specific projects are more complex to track and resolve quickly. That's why teams must tag each issue according to the related service within a project. Webgit filter-branch has a plethora of pitfalls that can produce non-obvious manglings of the intended history rewrite (and can leave you with little time to investigate such problems since it has such abysmal performance). These safety and performance issues cannot be backward compatibly fixed and as such, its use is not recommended.

Any git operation via the UI takes a few seconds to complete when working remotely on WSL. It is affecting all of my repositories, and is reproduced even with a new empty one: Connect to a WSL Ubuntu-18.04 target (didn't check for other OSs). Create a new folder and run git init in it.

WebThe issue is that Git Bash consistently becomes slow. When I say slow, I mean that running cd takes anywhere from 8-25 seconds, running git commands take from 5-20 seconds, and ls can take up to 30 seconds sometimes.
