If I'm not mistaken adding an msd ignition module also bypasses the computer. Once you bypass the computer you can adjust your carb properly and advance the timing a bit. You'll be surprised how much better it runs.

Biggest advantage is the elimination of 23+ years of old wires and sensors that may or may not be working correctly. The only way would be to check each circuit seperately and measure it against the factory tolerances.

It won't pass a state inspection in most states. But then again if you have a weber it is unlikely that you would pass anyway.
